Mitchell Fontenote, CPA
Mitchell Fontenote is a seasoned Certified Public Accountant with over 30 years of experience in accounting, tax, and audit services. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Lamar University in 1990, beginning his career that same year with a respected public accounting firm.
Over the next decade, Mitchell worked with several CPA firms throughout the Beaumont area and across Texas, handling complex tax returns and conducting comprehensive audits across a variety of industries.
In 2000, he partnered with two fellow CPAs to form a firm specializing in governmental audits, as well as audit and accounting services for non-profit organizations and privately held companies. During this time, he continued to provide a full range of tax services to individuals and businesses.
In 2009, Mitchell established his own practice—Mitchell T. Fontenote, CPA. The firm has grown steadily, adding a professional and experienced staff while maintaining its commitment to client-focused service. Today, the firm serves clients across Texas with trusted expertise in auditing, tax preparation, and accounting services.
Both Mitchell and the firm are proud members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA), reflecting a continued dedication to the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in the field.
Christa Wofford, CPA, MBA
Christa graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, Finance, and Economics in December 2008. She continued her education to earn a Master of Business Administration in Accounting in December 2012.
Christa began working at Mitchell T Fontenote CPA, Inc. in September 2010 as professional staff. She earned her CPA license in 2017.
She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Texas Society of CPAs. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the TXCPA Southeast Texas chapter. She is now a shareholder of Mitchell T Fontenote CPA, Inc. and assists the firm with a variety of services, focusing on governmental and not-for-profit audits. Christa has obtained the Advanced Single Audit Certificate from AICPA.
Sarah Mounkes, MSA
Sarah graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in May 2013 and a Master of Science in Accounting in May of 2015. She began working for Mitchell T Fontenote CPA, Inc. in September 2013 and assists the firm in a variety of services including governmental and not-for-profit audits, individual and business tax services, financial statement preparation, and general bookkeeping services.
Rachel Brammer, CPA
Rachel graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in December 2018. She began preparing tax returns in 2016 and has steadily built her expertise in individual, business, estate, and trust taxation. After earning her CPA license in 2022, Rachel expanded her role to include client advising and tax return review. She brings nearly a decade of hands-on experience to her position as Tax Services Manager at Mitchel T. Fontenot, CPA, Inc., where she joined the team in April 2025.
Brianna Alexander, MSPA
Brianna graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 2022 and a Master of Science in Professional Accounting in 2023. She joined the firm in March 2020 and focuses on tax return preparation and planning for businesses and individuals. She is currently a CPA exam candidate.
Katie Rutty
Katie graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business & Management in May 2023. She is currently enrolled at Lamar University, working towards her Master of Science in Professional Accounting, set to graduate in May 2025. She joined the firm in August 2023 and currently focuses on general bookkeeping services and individual tax return preparation.
